Join us on International Women’s Day for a special edition of Sketchy Bitches, paying homage to women who have inspired us and raising funds to support people in Ukraine.

This event will be co-hosted by Artist Helen Roeten and Sketch Appeal Founder Dulcie, who have joined forces to raise as much money as they can for this vital cause.

We’ll be drawing 8 minute portraits of as many willing muses as we can get through in the time. There’s no pressure to pose, or to dress up - no doubt there will be plenty of willing muses! If you’re game, dress in tribute to a woman who has inspired and empowered you - iconic, historic or everyday!

Some inspiration from some of our Sketchy Bitches muses in March 2021..

Ciao bella! We’re heading to Italy for the next of our Sketchy Bitches summer art-ventures!

As well as drawing freestyle, we’ll be attempting to draw portraits in the style of two iconic Italian artists - Amadeo Modigliani and René Gruau. We’ll share some images at the start of the session so don’t worry about researching in advance, unless you want to of course!

Dress code = (Inspired by) Gucci, Pucci, Dolce & Gabanna … anything goes just make it FASHION sweetie! You can’t go wrong with a headscarf & big earrings, e.g.

As usual we’ll begin with a quick group chat and warm-up challenge, followed by a round of interactive portrait-sketching until the time runs out. Poses will last approx. 7 minutes and the first 10 people to book are guaranteed to be drawn.

All aboard our summer season of Sketchy Beaches!!

We’re running weekly art-ventures every Sunday throughout July and August - and you can join in from wherever you are in the world!

We’ll be exploring styles and themes inspired by different destinations and creative icons from around the world. From drawing Modigliani-style in Italy - to going all-out Americana for Madonna’s birthday, there’ll be plenty of chance to experiment and for those who wish to, to ‘dress up and draw’!

We’re hitting the high seas for our first session, with an (optional) nautical dress code! A great excuse to dig out your stripey top - and/or go all out Pirate!  No sunglasses please (unless worn on your head!)

Expect the usual routine and a brand-new summer soundtrack! We’ll kick off with a quick group chat and warm-up, followed by a round of interactive portrait-sketching until the time runs out. Poses will last approx. 7 minutes and the first 10 people to book are guaranteed to be drawn.

Fairies! Come and work your creative magic with us in the enchanted land of Zoom!

Expect all the usual rituals at this special event to mark the summer solstice: celebrating in the only way we know how - drawing and sharing our magical creative energy!

We’ll kick off with a quick group chat and warm-up, followed by a manic-yet-meditative round of interactive portrait-sketching until the time runs out. We’ll be doing a mix of 7 & 10 minute poses and guarantee the first 10 people to book will be drawn. We might throw in some ‘dreamy’ portrait prompts too :)

Dress code = FLOWER POWER (FAIRIES)!

Sketchy Bitches of the world unite!

Join us for our biggest event yet - a night of colourful creative fun to celebrate International Women’s Day 2020!

Expect a night of interactive portrait-sketching, girl-powered tunes and inspiring creative chat with our special guest – East End Fashion Icon & Artist, Sue Kreitzman!

As well as sketching Sue, you’ll be drawing your fellow Bitches and get a chance to strike a pose whilst the rest of your table draw mini portraits of you, which you’ll get to keep at the end. There’ll also be a chance for some lucky crowd members to come up on stage and be drawn by the entire room!

6.30pm - Doors
7-8pm - Intro & potrait-sketching
8-9.15pm - Chat/Interview & sketching with Sue
9.15-10pm - More portraits - winners pose on stage
You’re welcome to stay for drinks and chat afterwards - we’ll be kicked ART at 11pm :)

Sketchy Bitches of the world unite!

Join us for an all-day celebration of #womanpower,
creative community and the joy of SKETCH!

To mark International Women’s Day 2019, we’re inviting YOU and some of the awesome creative women who inspire us to attend our biggest Sketchy B*tches sketchfest yet!

Expect an action-packed day full of uplifting creative conversations and sketchworking, that’ll run a little something like this:

10.30am – 11am: ARRIVAL, CHAT & COFFEE

11am – 1pm: PANEL & MINI WORKSHOPS

Sketch Appeal Founder Dulcimer Draws will lead interviews and a Q&A with our special guest panel:

Sue Dray: Legendary Fashion Artist and former Course Leader @UAL, well-known for her experimental and playful approach to drawing.

Sarah Fox: The woman behind @TinyVictorieszines and Creative Associate @ Sketch Appeal.

Diana Muendo: Co-founder of M.Y.O. - London’s first ever art gym!

Manko Sebastian and Carla Tofano: Co-founders of Art Model Collective, who run some of the best theatrical life drawing classes in London/the world!

2pm – 5pm: FACETIME! 

Time for our biggest Sketchy Bitches portrait-sketching session yet! As has become tradition at our meetups, we’ll take it in turns to sit and pose whilst the rest draw pocket-sized portraits of us, which we get to keep at the end as mementos of all our ace new sketchmates.  

We’re expecting a slightly bigger crowd than usual (up to 80 people!), so we’ll split and draw portraits in smaller groups to ensure we all get chance to pose. BUT, before we do, we’ll draw a name from a jar and one lucky person will be invited to come up on stage and be drawn by THE WHOLE ROOM!!

There’ll also be a few more surprises up for grabs on the day, and chance to pick up a cheeky discount on issue 1 of Sketch Appeal magazine and/or Sketchy Bitches tote bags.

Come twerk your inner artist and celebrate womankind at this fun social sketchfest designed to fire up the Frida and DIVA within.  

Activities will short, experimental and suitable for all levels, so if you haven’t drawn much recently don’t worry: we’ll soon boost your creative confidence and have you bossing it like Beyonce!

 Get your creativity flowing with a series of fun and fast-paced drawing challenges, including speed portrait-sketching, drawing to the beat of classic diva tracks and a #drawherinyourstyle album cover challenge!
