Groove Is In the ART!
Issue 1 Launch Party
Wed 7th November, Drink Shop & Do
We love drawing and we love dancing to cheesy 90s pop: so what better way to launch Sketch Appeal magazine than with our first ever Groove Is In The Art drawing disco!
And what a groovy night it was, packed with power-drawing and #girlpower, thanks to our superstar guest models, Carla and Manko from Art Model Collective!
We were so thrilled and honoured to be joined by one of our creative heroes, legendary Fashion Artist Sue Dray, the glorious Artist Isabelle Bricknall and the woman who inspired the start of it all, founder of Art Macabre Nikki Shaill. Super-excited too, to have some of the amazing contributors to Issue 1 in the house: Sketchy Bitches regular Sophie Whitehead, Jo at Adventures & Tea Parties and Cat Faulkner of Jelly Armchair.
It was such a special night and the perfect way to highlight and land our message about drawing: that it should be playful, empowering and FUN!
Groove Is In The Art isn’t just a great pun - it embodies our whole mission here at Sketch Appeal:
We aren’t here to teach techniques or show you how to get‘good at art’ - we’ll leave that to the professionals! Through our magazine and events, our aim is simply to provide you with some playful prompts and opportunities to get into your creative groove and unleash the inner artist that is is deep-down in your heART!
We’re here to encourage you to embrace and get lost in the creative process, without worrying about the end result. Because after all, life is a creative process: so why not step into it (dancing heels optional), pick up a pencil and just #DRAWDRAWDRAW!
