We’ve been Sketchy Bitchin’ on Zoom for 12 weeks now, so it’s high time we mixed things up a bit!
Instead of a theme, this week we thought we’d focus on one of our favourite portrait prompts - “GO ABSTRACT”!
By definition, abstract art “does not attempt to represent external reality”, but for the purpose of this session let’s just call it ‘unusual’! This is a chance to break out of your usual style, to challenge your creativity and explore different approaches to drawing the face - free from the pressure of capturing likeness!
No dress-up required for this one (obv), but please bring along an interesting object to serve as an additional prompt to inspire your portrait! It could be something of sentimental value (e.g. an ornament), something that’s a big part of your life (e.g. a camera), your favourite tin of soup, or just something fun and colourful!
If the thought of drawing abstract horrifies and/or baffles you, then that’s all the more reason to come along! We’ll share some examples at the start of the session, and you’ll soon get inspired as you see what others draw.
NB: There are only 12 spaces so book early if you’re keen! We’re keeping things small so we all have chance to pose, interact and connect.
